The survey was conducted by PORU and it was presented in the Greek website protagon.gr.

The Greek public opinion shares a very positive opinion towards the President of Russia. Of course, this is not something newfound. On the international level (Pew Research Center – August 2017), Greece is the most Russophilian country in Europe and competes globally with countries like Vietnam, the Philippines and Tanzania.

In a recent survey conducted by PORU (fielded in May 24-25, 2018), Vladimir Putin, as compared with US President Donald Trump and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, is the most strong personality (58.5%), the most likeable (48%), he has the most positive characteristics (47%) and that he would better fit as a leader in our country (39.5%).

What is the most impressive? He is also considered the most reliable. These numbers shock Europeans and Americans who find it difficult to understand how do we think as nation. How does an authoritarian leader can become so popular in a democratic country? A number of assumptions has been made about such a favorable view of the Greek citizens towards Russia.

The official article as well as the survey’s findings were presented in Greek and you can retreive them from here.
