The latest surveys in general, show that the Greek population is disappointed by the current situation in the country and the citizens declare their pessimism about the future.

The latest survey conducted by PORU (fielden in 7-10 Jan, 2017) attempted to explore the attitudes of the public opinion towards institutional and economic reforms.

The priorities

The credibility crisis of the country’s politicians is not a new finding. In this sense, the citizens’ demand for “truth” is not a strange fact. More specifically, when people are asked which is the most important attribute for a politician, 60% say “the truth”, while notions such as “freedom”, “equality”, and “changes” get single-digit percentages.

Does the public behave favorably in the face of institutional changes?

The percentage of those who support proposals related to reforms concerning power policy reduction, appears extremely high. More than seven-in-ten agree with proposals such as to “establish a maximum term of office for a politician”and “reduce the number of parliamentary members under 300”.
